VISITING MY DAD'S LEGACY
My dad passed away on 25 November last year, while I was teaching in Phnom Penh. The series on the dead, spirits, and reincarnations, are proving to be cathartic.
Scetches were made by me in a hotel room in PP around that period when also 350 people died on th Koh Pich (Diamond Bridge) during the Boat Races festival, known as Pchum Ben. Now they are being transferred one by one onto canvas.
My relationship with my dad has been very shaky at times when I needed most of mental support. We said goodbye last year at the nursing home and on the phone later 2 weeks before he died.
Mystics don't use the word dying, thye say he reincarnated. So do the Buddhists. Various congregations of monks went and sat by the river to pray for the many missing people, bodies, and help their souls, who they believed needed the right and timely transition.
I hope my dad's transition was OK too, and that he may like the painting I made. in which I have used parts of his imagery....her in this case a winter landscape.
I was the first pink branch of the family and he had a hard time accepting it.
